In 2016, the European Commission adopted a decision on a number of truck manufacturers, as these had acted as a cartel over a 10-year period, thus infracting European competition law.
In Portugal, the transposition of the European directive on this subject brought some light on the rules which should be observed for the accomplishment of the right to compensation of the injured parties, being estimated that between 2000 and 2010 about 54,779 were sold, among which about 80% came from the manufacturers involved in the truck cartel.
