News News Flash - Law ensuring the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation published 09/08/2019

The Law ensuring the implementation, in the Portuguese jurisdiction, of the Parliament and Council Regulation on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such Data (RGPD) was published yesterday in the Official Gazette. The law came into effect today, August 9th.

Also, the law approving the rules on the processing of personal data for the purposes of the prevention, detection, investigation or prosecution of criminal offences or enforcement of criminal sanctions has also been published, transposing Directive (EU) 2016/680 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016.
