As of the approval of the Resolution of the Council of Ministers (“RCM”) no. 70 -A / 2020, of September 11, that Portugal was in a contingency situation.
However, taking into account the evolution of the epidemiological situation in our country, the Government considered that it was necessary to call (again) a calamity situation in Portugal, “in order to guarantee a better protection of public health and the safeguarding of health and safety population, and to mitigate the contagion and spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and COVID-19 disease”, which happened through the Resolution of the Council of Ministers no. 88-A/2020 published on the 14th of October.
On October 15, Decree-Law No. 87-A/2020 was also published, which alters the exceptional and temporary measures related to the COVID-19 disease pandemic, as “the evolution of the epidemiological situation justifies the regularly made changes and adjustments to the various legal acts that have been approved since March 2020, in order to keep these acts duly updated and to ensure their relevance ”.
