Last July, in the Council of Ministers, the Government approved the government bill No. 111/XIV/2nd (GOV), which legislates the use of video cameras’ surveillance systems by the security forces and services, having at that time, most opposition parties complained that they had not been asked for an opinion to the National Data Protection Commission (CNPD) on the new law.
The Bill was then sent to the Parliament, where it was generally approved.
As a result, the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees of the Parliament requested CNPD to issue an opinion on the aforementioned government bill, which it did through Opinion 143/2021, of 4 November.
