News GPA Law Firm joins GRACE – Empresas Responsáveis | One of the initiatives of the sustainability month 21/09/2023

It is with great satisfaction and enthusiasm that GPA Law Firm announces that, on 11 September 2023, it became a member of GRACE – Empresas Responsáveis (GRACE). The meeting was held with the attendance of the President and Executive Director of GRACE and Sofia Gouveia Pereira, Managing Partner, Leonor Costa Freitas, Partner, Manuel Gouveia Pereira, Of Counsel and Head of Environment, Climate & ESG and Margarida Sameiro, Chief Corporate Affairs & People Officer representing GPA Law Firm.   

Founded on 2000, GRACE is as a non-profit business association of public utility that currently gathers more than 290 members of several sectors and dimensions of the Portuguese corporate ecosystem, which acts in the areas of Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability, with the mission of promoting and developing a sustainable business culture, envisaging to raise awareness among the business community of the importance of citizenship and social responsibility in companies. 

GPA Law Firm’s mission “Teaming with our Clients. Building Trust” aligned with its claim “Be Aware. Be Sustainable”, inspired the Firm’s actions for more than eighteen years and set the pace of several initiatives it developed in the field of sustainability. GPA Law Firm aims to play its role in promoting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and, more specifically, in reducing its environmental and carbon footprint.

Becoming a member of GRACE was therefore inevitable, especially given GPA Law Firm's clear desire to actively contribute to the dissemination and implementation of practical solutions that will enable sustainable policies in the Portuguese business community. Bearing this in mind, GPA Law Firm has already joined the Legal, Financial and SDG13 (Climate Action) Clusters, organized by GRACE.

Joining GRACE is thus another step in the consolidation of GPA Law Firm’s commitment to the way it views and advocates sustainability and corporate social responsibility issues to the community in which it operates, its Stakeholders, its Clients and the effective and cross application of ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) factors in its own management. The recent creation by GPA Law Firm of the Environment & Climate and ESG Areas of practice is proof of this commitment.
