News Emigrant return incentives program approved 18/04/2019

The Council of Ministers recently approved the Regressar Program with the purpose of creating incentives that reduce the costs for the return of emigrants, Portuguese descendants and their families to Portugal.

Said program reinforces the conditions for the creation of jobs, increase of investment and tackling of the ageing process. A main highlight of the approved measures is taxation exemption for Personal Income Tax of half the income resulting from dependent work and entrepreneur and professional income of taxable persons that become tax residents in Portugal in 2019 or 2020 – Resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 60/2019 – Government Official Gazette No. 62/2019, Series I of 2019-03-28.
